10 Useful Baby Tips

Let's face it, being a new mom takes its toll on you. You are barely getting sleep, adjusting to a new lifestyle, and learning how to care for your baby all at once. Getting baby advice from family and friends is helpful, but not always readily available or doesn't always work for my child. When I need help fast, with multiple answers and suggestions, I have found the internet to be a valuable resource. There are many baby blogs, forums, and other community driven sites that offer a place for moms to post tips and useful information that they have come across or answer specific questions that other moms, like myself, have asked.

Baby Cradle Sheets

Through my internet searches, I have come across a number of tips that saved me when I was in need of help. I gathered together 10 of the most useful baby tips that I found. These are not the everyday, basics that you can read in any parenting magazine. These are random, one of a kind tips that real mothers have used to help make their hectic new lifestyles a bit easier.

Baby Cradle Sheets

1. Make night time changes easier by preparing beforehand. Pre-fill diapers with ointment and lay them out near the wipes on the changing table or pad. Having everything prepared and close by will make your middle of the night wake ups a lot more bearable.

2. When traveling to a friends or relatives house, use your iPhone as a baby monitor. Download the baby monitor application and you will be able to put your baby down for a nap in another room while you mingle. The iPhone is left in the room with the baby and when the baby wakes or stirs, it calls a preselected number (Dad's cell or friend's cell) to notify you.

3. Stop your baby from crying by reinacting the feeling of being in your womb. Cradle the baby in the bathroom with the lights turned out, the fan on, and the water running. The sounds will help sooth your baby to sleep.

4. Always be prepared for an extended outing with friends or a sudden trip to the store. Have an "emergency" diaper bag in your car. The bag should include extra wipes, diapers, changing clothes, a pacifier, a change of clothes, a bib, and a blanket. This will help if you have no time to pack a diaper bag or if you are out of the house and run out of supplies in your everyday diaper bag.

5. Keep a few Ziploc bags with scented dryer sheets in your diaper bag. These work great when you change the baby but cannot easily dispose of the diapers. Place them in the bag and the dryer sheet will help mask the smell.

6. If your baby sleeps with a pacifier and you find yourself waking up often to replace it when it falls out of their mouth, place several pacifiers by their head in the crib. This way when they reach for a pacifier in the middle of the night, they are bound to find one and slip back into sleep without waking you.

7. When traveling to the beach with your baby, be sure to bring baby powder. When your child gets sand stuck to them, sprinkle the baby powder on their skin and the sand will fall right off...plus they will smell baby fresh!

8. Download your baby's favorite tunes onto your phone so you have them ready to save the day when in need. If you are stuck in traffic, standing in line at the store, waiting for the doctor, or just about any where the baby begins to fuss, play the songs. The familiar sounds will spark their interest and distract them from whatever they were fussing about.

9. When times are hectic, always be prepared for baby showers by having unique baby gifts on hand. Ordering one or two baby gift baskets [http://babybasketbeyond.com] ahead of time and storing them for when needed is a great way to take stress away when you have a baby of your own to care for. Plus, the added bonus is if you do not get to give the baby shower gift baskets out, they are bound to be useful for your own child.

10. Refrain from being an overprotective mommy. Have your baby get used to family and friends holding them, feeding them, or putting them to bed at a young age. This will make your life easier when they begin to take notice of their surroundings. They will be comfortable with other adults.
